CERTIFICATION

Independent information about the stone.

When choosing a valuable gemstone, reliable and verifiable information is essential.

A gemmological laboratory report documents the stone’s properties and provides a standardised professional assessment.

ANELI ANTWERP works with internationally recognised gemmological laboratories, including GIA and HRD Antwerp. The documentation depends on the type of stone and the specific piece.

GIA

Gemological Institute of America

GIA is one of the world’s best-known gemmological institutions.

Its diamond reports document the key parameters, including the 4Cs, as well as other data relevant to identifying and assessing the stone.

For coloured gemstones, the GIA laboratory can provide information on the stone’s identity, natural or laboratory origin, detected treatments and, in certain cases, geographic origin.

HRD Antwerp

Antwerp’s gemmological expertise

HRD Antwerp is a leading gemmological institution in the Antwerp diamond and jewellery world.

Depending on the report, HRD Antwerp documentation lists a diamond’s key gemmological parameters, including its 4Cs and other identifying characteristics.

WHAT DOES CERTIFICATION TELL YOU?

Depending on the stone and the laboratory, a report may include information on:

Diamonds:

  • natural or laboratory origin
  • shape
  • carat weight
  • colour
  • clarity
  • cut grade (for round brilliants)
  • polish
  • symmetry
  • fluorescence
  • measurements and other parameters.

Coloured gemstones:

  • type of stone
  • natural or laboratory origin
  • weight and measurements
  • shape and cut
  • colour
  • detected treatments
  • in certain cases — geographic origin.

A CERTIFICATE IS NOT THE WHOLE STORY

A laboratory report provides objective information about a stone.

But it does not tell you everything about its visual character.

Two diamonds with similar parameters can return light differently.

Two sapphires with similar colour descriptions can have a different visual depth.

That is why certification and a gemmologist’s experience complement each other.

The document helps you understand the stone. The stone itself reveals its beauty.

ANELI ANTWERP’S GEMMOLOGICAL APPROACH

ANELI ANTWERP does not look at numbers alone.

When choosing a stone, we consider its documentation, natural origin, colour, proportions, clarity, treatment, light performance and overall visual character.

The goal is not to find the stone with the most impressive specification.

The goal is to find a stone in which all qualities form a harmonious whole.
